Sunday Message

"THE GREATNESS OF GOD"

Isa 40

"Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken." {Isa 40:4-5} NASB

OPENING PRAYER

Mysterious, all consuming, all seeing, all knowing Creator of the Universe, we humble ourselves in Your presence and pray for divine enlightenment in expanding our human understanding of Your Awesome Greatness. Open our eyes, ears and souls to see, witness, and understand with greater clarity as You daily make the impossible POSSIBLE as Author of all that there is. Show us please, through Your Word, O'Holy Spirit and Son, our SAVIOR, Jesus the Christ, AMEN.

MESSAGE

The GREATNESS OF GOD! In the period of literally SIX days, the Bible documents the moment of earth's creation. In SIX literal days, GOD created the world out of nothing. When GOD spoke the WORD, it was! Just like that!

Now, in order to prevent developing a CHARLIE HORSE OF THE BRAIN, which I have personally suffered many, many times. We are going to take it nice and slow as we go our way. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. {Gen 1:1 } Ten words. This is a pretty straight forward statement of Biblical truth, very understandable. That is until we discover that before GOD made the earth and everything on the earth, including you and me, and He SPOKE it all into existence out of NOTHING. (Here comes the CHARLIE HORSE OF THE BRAIN)--GOD made everything out of NOTHING!

In the New Testament and the Gospel according to the Apostle John; In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He [the WORD] was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him [the WORD], and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. In Him [the WORD] was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. {Joh 1:1-5}

In the first three verses of Genesis, we know who all is present; We see GOD himself, The Holy Spirit of GOD, and the WORD of GOD. The complete TRINITY is present, FATHER, SON, and HOLY SPIRIT. Don't you just LOVE the BIBLE?

The Prophet Isaiah delivers to us a concise, almost "CLIFF NOTES" overview including expectation of future events:

Isa 40:1,3-5: "Comfort, O comfort My people," says your God. A voice is calling, "Clear the way for the LORD in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. "Let every valley be lifted up, And every mountain and hill be made low; And let the rough ground become a plain, And the rugged terrain a broad valley; Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, And all flesh will see it together; For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."

God is GREATNESS because He is God! He cannot be less because He is the Creator of all things. God has always been. There has never been nor will there ever be a time when He was not. The Lord is The Master Shepherd - He will tend His flock, In His arms He will gather the lambs And carry them in His bosom; He will gently lead the nursing ewes. {Isa 40:11} God is very hands-on.

Before we were formed, God knew our specific substance. While we began to grow from a single cell dividing in our mother's womb, God was adding the ingredients of Glory to Him through us. He gave us our individual personality, interests, skills, talents with the expectation that in future days we would use these interests, skills and talents to bring Glory to Him the Father of all.

Many of us ask the question, "What does God expect of me, How do I serve Him?" You serve by using the Gifts He gave you while in the womb, and then give HIM the glory. Simple huh? DO WHAT YOU DO...DO WELL WITH ALL OF YOUR MIGHT and without any shame or selfishness, Praise the LORD!

SUMMARY

The GREATNESS of GOD cannot be calculated nor fully comprehended by the human brain. The task of attempting discovery would be like attempting to count and mark every grain of sand on the earth with a unique mark or code to its self.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. {Isa 40:28-31}

The GREATNESS we experience with our Lord is in knowing His love, knowing His heart, His patience, His Forgiveness, His unlimited power! We who confess His name have direct access through prayer from our mouths and heart to HIS ears, any where, any time. All of this is but a tiny portion of Gods many attributes, that we have gathered in a big basket we call Greatness

He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite. {Psa 147:3-5 }

CLOSING PRAYER

We never tire of learning and growing in Your foot steps because You never change, You are Immutable, You have always been, and will continue exactly as as you are and will forever be. Thank-You, Almighty Creator for gathering us together in Fellowship and Love to Worship You. Today we recall the precious lives lost by injury unto death for the righteous battles fought by Soldiers in the Army of the Lord. Let us never forget the price they paid that we might be free, in the footsteps of JESUS who gave His life and shed His blood for all of us. In HIS Name, AMEN.

Having opened this congregation with the Blessing of God through prayer, let us now focus our attention to the Banner of Freedom, Our Flag:

MESSAGE

God made man, and man rests on God for his survival and rescue in times of great trial. This is the testimony of just three soldiers on life's battlefield who placed all of their faith and trust in He who created them.

Three men, US ARMY INFANTRY SERGEANT JOHN HENRY DANIELS, US NAVY SEABEE BRADLEY DILLON, AND US ARMY AIR CORPS, AND AIR FORCE LTC JOHN ELLIS

My ears are especially attuned to Wartime remembrances. During my 23 years in the Uniform of the U.S. Army, The Lord allowed meeting many selfless warriors who were so very humble, so meek in their outward behavior, one could hardly grasp the monumental feats they accomplished.

In 2004 at an RV Park in Panama City, Florida I met Mister Daniels, then 80 years young, began to tell me his powerful story. A young Army Cpl. John H. Daniels (nicknamed Doc ) served with the Army's 141st Infantry, 36th Division. His unit fought FIVE major campaigns in FIVE COUNTRIES in FIVE YEARS!!

He was captured in Italy on Jan. 14, 1944 and was held in POW camps in Germany until he was liberated on May 15, 1945. Daniels was also wounded both in Italy, then again during the Korean Conflict, with X Corps during the battle for Chosin Reservoir.

We fought through Casablanca, and into North Africa before joining the fight in Italy.”, quipped John. “I was an infantryman, and I knew my job pretty good.” “We had some good boys in our unit, and many….many, never made it back home.” “The fighting was pretty rough.”.

John rose his right hand (missing the third finger) and adjusted his dark glasses. “I don’t recall exactly what day it was, but I remember getting hit in the back side of my head. I went out.”. “When I woke up, I was face down on a mattress, and there was someone straddling my back.” “ I turned my head and the person that was on my back was a nurse, massaging my neck”. “ I thought maybe I was dead, and I asked her, Are you an angel?”.

Daniels had been unconscious for 12 days, and was now on the mend in a field hospital. In the days ahead, he would be pronounced “fit for duty” and returned to his unit.

On the day of his capture, by the Germans --in Italy, John described the horrible battle that raged. His unit was hit very hard, and during the course of the day, they ran out of ammunition and were forced to engage the Germans with nothing more than bayonets. “When you fight with bayonets”, said Daniels, “ you are right up close with them, and the sounds, the screams, those hurt and those dying, its right there in front of you.”. Overwhelmed by the Germans, the remaining members of John’s unit was forced to surrender.

John and his fellow soldiers were now in the hands of the Germans. They were marched many miles to a German encampment, still in Italy. Here they joined a bunch of “other fellows” who had also been captured. Crammed into rail cattle cars, they began the four day journey into Germany. “They had so many of us stuffed in those cars, you could not lay down, even if you died.”. “The only way to get a few moments of rest was to lean over another soldier, and then you would shift and he’d lay across you”. The prisoners received no food and no water. It was bitter cold as they winded their way through the Alps.

In Germany, Daniels and his fellow prisoners were off loaded from the train, the Germans rationed out water, and John filled his helmet to the brim!. “Oh that water tasted so good, I think I drank it all up and I don’t think I even took a breath till it was all down.”. “We also got some cabbage soup, but it turned out that the cabbage was seaweed”. When you have not eaten for four days or more, you’ll eat just about anything.”.

The prisoners were told to strip, and go through the showers for delousing. “We had heard about German showers that had gas in them instead of water, so when we walked in, we all knew that we might not walk out but ---But, we did!”. “The Germans gave us back the same clothes on the other end of the showers. In fact, I wore the same clothes for my entire time I was in captivity.”.

Many soldiers were badly wounded, and John would use what ever was available, trying to save them. Many were lost, many others were saved by John’s intervention. “I had no medical training, except what I picked up here and there, but I knew if I didn’t do something, they would just die.” “We’d use T-shirts, pant legs, what ever we could get. And we had no anesthetic, the boys would bite down on a piece of wood, and they would feel me cutting, off a hand, an arm or a leg. To save them, I just had to do it.”.

Many had dysentery, and in their final days or hours, would pass blood through their rectums. “We had an out house with four or five holes. Some of these boys would go out there, passing blood, and would sit too long and worms and maggots would get up inside them. I saw many like this, and there was nothing you could do except hold their hands and be with them when they died.”

The food was given only once a day. a boiled potato with cabbage (seaweed). “Since they cooked those potatoes by dumping what ever was in the sack into boiling water, what ever was in that sack got cooked too. You know, rats would get in those sacks, and sometimes you’d get a whole rat, sometimes a just leg or a claw.” “We’d eat those roaches too, didn’t want to, but you eat what you need to stay alive”. When John and his fellow soldiers were liberated by the Russians. John remembered that when he was captured in Italy, he weighed 178 pounds. On the day of his liberation, 16 months later, he barley tipped the scale at 90 pounds.

He returned to his birth place home in Georgia, then on to his new post;

John and his bride had just arrived at Fort Bragg, applied for quarters and was informed that he was on orders to Korea, leaving Monday, four days away! . John went to his commander and reminded him that as a former P.O.W., he was not supposed to be ordered back into combat again. The commander told him that this decision was from higher headquarters and that he needed to talk to them. John did that and the big commander had a “heart to heart” conversation with John saying that they needed soldiers in a big way, and that he had to be on that plane Monday. End of story. John kissed his wife goodbye, off he was to yet another battle. This time it would be X Corps mission to support the Marines in taking the Chosin Reservoir.

Early on after arriving in Korea, we had to cross this river using little rubber boats.” Lord, “We were taking fire from all over the place, and just when we got almost to the beach, on the other side of the river, the boat next to me, on my right, got hit real bad.” “Well, I got to the beach and I don’t mind telling you that I was really scared, almost in a panic, there were pieces of soldiers all over the water, and the mortars and gunfire was just terrible.” “All of a sudden I heard this voice, clear as could be, it said, I am with you, fear not.” “You know, that was my lord Jesus, and he was talking to me.” “Well, the panic left me and I ran back and forth in and out of that water and helped bring in as many soldiers as I could.”

The fighting was rough, but the cold, that was a real killer”. At 32 below zero, a bullet was often a blessing than to freeze to death.

This is where I got shot”, John motioned to me as he raised his right pant leg. He pointed to a deep indention surrounded by so many scars, pointing to it with his right hand. [Missing the third finger.] “I got my finger blown off too, but you know, the hand still works pretty good.” "I lost my left eye too"

When its 32 below, blood freezes before it hits the ground. It balls up, its like pretty little red BBs or marbles, rolling on the frozen ground”. (or on the floor of an airplane taking you to healing and a ticket back to the states.) “Those little blood balls would roll all over the place”. John Henry Daniels would be saved by two other HEROES, John Ellis and Bradly Dillon. God is GOOD!

Many soldiers who owe their very lives to these GODLY and selfless men who put themselves ON-THE-LINE to do God's will and to TRUST and OBEY!

Fast forward to 2022. {72 years later} By the grace and hand of God, John Ellis and Bradly Dillon find themselves as residents of the same Assisted Living Facility in Navarre Florida!! Months go by. They eat at the same table, engage in the same daily activities, yet, neither of them recalls their joint mission to save lives at the risk of theirs. Guess who God chose to be WITNESS to HIS handy work with these fellows?

In casual conversation one day in the Garden, they both realized where they were and what they were doing in the winter of 1950, 72 years before. It was the visual beauty and memory of the tiny frozen balls of blood, glistening in the light as they rolled across the ground that brought this recollection to mind all these years later. Only God can arrange such a remarkable reunion. All three have now graduated from this earth and are serving in God's Mighty army as we speak.

SUMMARY

Between 1775 and the end of 2024,

1,284,447 precious lives were lost in War.

During those 249 years we lost 5,158 souls per year.

Fading light ... Dims the sight ... And a star ... Gems the sky ...Gleaming bright From afar .. Drawing nigh ..Falls the night

Thanks and praise ... For our days ... Neath the sun ... Neath the stars...Neath the sky ... As we go ... This we know .... God is nigh

CLOSING PRAYER O' Mighty Lord, our God, not one of us knows how we might respond to the horrors met by fellows like John Henry, John Ellis and Bradly Dillon. Certainly we can do none of those HEROIC things on our own. As we mature as servants of the God of the Universe, we begin to realize how helpless we truly are. It was Jesus who brought these men through and returned them to their families. It was God Almighty who calmed the waters just long enough to save lives of others, and comfort those at death's door. You... Lord... hand made the HEROES and HEROINS, and by the might of Your power, the battle against EVIL continues to be won. Praise You Father, Praise You Lord Jesus, Praise You Holy Spirit, AMEN.

Sunday Message

"WALK WITH ME"

1 Pet 5:8

OPENING PRAYER

Almighty God, Father and Creator, thank-You for gathering us together this Holy Day in fellowship to worship. 2020 hind-sight is a marvelous gift and blessing, and we thank-You. There are times when we fail to look in the mirror to help guide our journey. You see all things, and this Holy Day we celebrate your gift of sight through Jesus Your Son, AMEN

MESSAGE

On this beautiful and Holy day, the Lord welcomes us to gather together and enjoy a short imaginary journey through the past. We will head down some paths and on trails that you may recognize and see events that were informative, cautionary, openly forecasting that unexpected changes were ahead. Let us witness together the signs as we pass. We can do this by allowing that LITTLE CHILD that resides in all of us, to come out and walk along with us. For a few minutes, just enjoy the mental journey.

Abraham let his "Little Child" come out when God appeared to him in Gen 17:1, {Paraphrasing}: "Walk before me...I have a BIG job for you!!" The child in Abraham believed that He who appeared before him was indeed GOD! The rest is Biblical History!

As we walk along, I'll share with you some recollections of days now behind us. Some are my personal memories, others are passed down or learned through someone, somewhere, sometime. Each holds a special place in my mind as markers or sign posts as if on a map to guide future travels. Much of what we will see on this journey will be seen through your personal lens. Let the vision bring back your own specific memories of that time and era. God reminds us that history, when consulted regularly and in earnest can help us to avoid repeating many past events. If we discover that we are heading down the wrong road-please, SAY SOMETHING. PRAY ON IT!

Grandma Elsie May (on my father's side) used to speak about Hugo Frear, her Great Grandfather who lived at the time of the reformation, the PROTEST-ANT period and the bloody departure from the Roman Church throughout Europe. A most violent period of our collective history. If you ever get the opportunity to read Foxe's Book of Martyrs, your view of mankind and religiosity might change forever.

Grandpa Hugo, a devoted simple man of Godly faith likely witnessed, and perhaps suffered for what he believed. Speaking up while in constant prayer to the Lord. Grandma Elsie was adamant that Prayer was the only thing that got Hugo and his family through this violent period. .....brethren, pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as it did also with you;  and that we will be rescued from perverse and evil men; for not all have faith.- {2Th 3:1-2}

See that big old building over there? That used to be Grant Junior High School. Our school day in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades began with morning announcements delivered over the in-class loud speaker system, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance, concluding in a daily prayer. Every student stood for the pledge and the prayer. They stood out of respect, not by mandate. They were proud of their school, the city and state, our country, and of GOD! Same story in elementary school. We would stand, and pray to start the day. Somewhere in the mid sixties, somebody got offended over prayer in school. WE SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING!

By the time I joined the Army,(at 17), those who got offended about prayer starting the day in schools could be found gathering at airports spitting on soldiers as we boarded airplanes heading overseas to serve in foreign lands. "Baby killers, murderers" they shouted as they spat! For a young soldier, a mountain boy, this stuff was tough NOT to respond to it. But, we followed orders and Orders were Orders! Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.-1Pe 5:8 WE SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING! WE SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING!

By the time I retired from the Army, several devices and technology that had not yet been invented were suddenly becoming common place. Computers, satellite TV and cell phones, scanners at grocery check outs all had been invented. Out of 23 years wearing the uniform of a soldier, 17 years were spent in some other country.

I left the U.S. as an 18 years old, was still blessed with an innocence and respect still displayed in American society. When I returned to CONUS (Continental United States), I again left behind a wonderful sense of innocence in the overseas country I was leaving and I was blown away how ugly, hateful and downright selfish people had allowed themselves to become here at home. It was like somebody threw a light switch while I was gone -- Personal responsibility and accountability vanished. The concept, "IT'S ALL ABOUT ME" was born!

Gone! Prayer in school was done away with; removing God completely from school, college, and public square. Our lord was gleefully replaced by a fellow named SATAN.   "How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations! - Isa 14:12 WE SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING; WE SHOULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING!

SUMMARY

Well, will you look at the hour? Walking along, talking, remembering, recalling the "Good Old Days". Time really flys by! Just up ahead is a fork in the road. One fork leads to the right, the other to the left. Its time to make a final decision; Which way to go? The decision is not political one. It is a decision of survival. Both directions lead to an eternity. Its not a question of ideology. It is a question of right and wrong, good and evil, Heaven or Hell.

If we had been paying attention in the late 60's and onward, we would have had a chance to circumvent some of events, or at least slow them down. Alas, we all seemed to be asleep at the wheel. The World had consumed us.

God has given us the "TWO MINUTE WARNING". Its decision time beloved. Two destinations, ETERNAL DARKNESS and ANGUISH, or ETERNAL LIGHT AND THE JOY OF OUR MAKER. Its a personal decision, I know. BUT....it IS YOUR DECISION. God does not send us to heaven or to hell. WE DO! We make decisions. When we choose the World, we choose wrong. That eternity is very dark.

Well, here we are at the fork in the road. Thanks for walking along. I remember what the Bible tells us;   "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.   "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." [The Almighty]- Rev 22:12-13;1:8

I'm going to head on down the right fork. Its not a trail that is well paved, like the left one, but I belive I see the foot prints of our Lord Jesus. I'll be following them.

{1Pe 5:8-11} Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (9) Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (10) But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. (11) To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

WE FINALLY SAID SOMETHING, AND WE FINALLY DID SOMETHING. Hope to see you on the trail ahead! Checking your rear-view mirror!

CLOSING PRAYER

Almighty God, Holy Scripture teaches us through Your Word to be ever observant of where we are in relationship to evil, or deceit and Your Word demands that we take such measures to correct the course and direction of our sojourn as we journey on earth. It seems we did not pay attention to the bold signs that we all witnessed over the past 55 or so years. Please forgive us our terrible error. Give us wisdom and discernment to avoid future such errors, In Jesus the Christ, AMEN

SUNDAY MESSAGE

MOTHER'S DAY 2025

Proverbs 31:10-31

Who can find a virtous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.

{Pro 31;10 NKJV}

OPENING PRAYER

How swiftly the sands in the hour glass fall when we find our place to serve the Living God. It seems, O' Lord Jesus that it was just yesterday when we first gathered here and shared the beauty of Your Holy Work; our Mothers. Thank You Father for bringing us to gather in worship and in Love on this special day in Jesus Christ, AMEN.

MESSAGE

Ten years ago on MOTHER'S DAY, 2015, the Lord blessed, filled and equipped me to deliver my very first sermon at the Beacon. There was just a handful of residents attending who shared that Mother's day celebration with millions celebrating Moms around the world. I've reached back in time to that sermon and and bring forward some of its elements for today's message of the unchanging strength and beauty of "Motherhood";

Gen 2:21-24  So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.  (22)  The LORD God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.  (23)  The man said, "This is now bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man."  (24)  For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Gen 1:27-28  God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  (28)  God blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

YEARS AGO there was a song that was part of a huge movie, the name of which I have log forgotten. The song in that movie has stuck with me all these years. The singer/actor was a French fellow named Maurice Chevalier, and the hit song was "THANK HEAVENS FOR LITTLE GIRLS".

Thus GOD gave us our beginning. Man and Woman, soon to be someone's Mom and Dad. This was the start. The Lord's mighty plan to join one man and one woman into a lifelong bond, providing THE method of producing families, children, natural brothers and sisters who themselves would grow up be joined together by the Lord and produce families all in the loving grace of a mighty and wondrous God.

The word MOTHER appears 320 times in the Bible. Some mothers were famous. Eve, Sarah, Rebecca, Rahab, Deborah, Ruth, Bathsheeba, and of course Mary, Mother of Jesus. Other Moms we will simply say that Jezebel's image was probably not the most wholesome for children to emulate.

In Exodus 20:12, God lays out by a commandment that we should honor our Father and our Mother. This is repeated in Leviticus and in Deuteronomy.

In (Jdg 5:7) The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel. Deborah became the Chief Judge and Ruler of the Israelites and a great leader in battle. She called herself a "Mother in Israel".

In the book of Ruth, (Rth 1:14) And they (the two widowed daughters) lifted up their voices and wept; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, then returned to her people, but Ruth clung to her mother-in-law NAOMI.

In 1 Sam, a man named Elkanah had two wives. One, named Hannah, who could not have children. Hannah prayed to God while at the Temple in Shilo and God granted her favor, allowing for the birth of the future Prophet Samuel. Hannah through prayer, by the grace of GOD became a mother.

Sarah, wife of Abraham, she had been baron her whole life. In her 90's, Sahrah became a MOM. IN HER 90'S..........!!!

Then there was Mary: (Luk 1:30,31,34,35) The angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. "And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I am a virgin?" The angel answered and said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.

(Luk 2:7) And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

(Luk 2:17) When they [The humble Shepherds of sheep] had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child.

This Child, fully MAN, fully GOD, named JESUS was introduced to the world not to High Potentates, or Kings, or Movie stars, or any other influencial human beings, this JESUS our SAVIOR was FIRST presented to a group of SHEPHERDS who had been attending their sheep when God extended the invitation to witness this miracle, in the presence of a young MOM.

On this Mother's Day, let us our journey through the Bible, specifically to scripture highlighting Mothers of Biblical times.

King Solomon demonstrated his great God-given wisdom in the matter of the two mothers who argued over the life of a surviving baby. By the KING offering to divide the living child in two, the true mother was wisely acknowledged and the real mother of the living child was rejoined. A mother's love could not tolerate injury to her precious child.

Not all mothers of Biblical times had happy outcomes. The wife of LOT, Abraham's nephew was turned into a pillar of salt as she looked back towards Sodom and Gomorrah in defiance of a command by the Angel of the Lord.

Jezebel, wife of King Ahab set a horrible standard for her children as she became truly a terror and killer taking many lives in pursuit of her selfish and lustful Pagan beliefs and greed. Her story begins in 1 Kings, Chapter 16.

When you were a child and was hurt, or you were sick, who made it all better? It was Mom. Who taught you how to count to ten, to say thank-you and please? It was Mom. Who taught you to pray; Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take? It was Mom. Who introduced you to the power and truth of the COOKING SPOON? Of course, your loving Mom!

Mary, the Mother of Christ, the most cherished and adored MOM of all time.

SUMMARY

Pro 31:10-31-NKJV; Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. (11) The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain.

(12) She does him good and not evil All the days of her life. (13) She seeks wool and flax, And willingly works with her hands. (14) She is like the merchant ships, She brings her food from afar.

(15) She also rises while it is yet night, And provides food for her household, And a portion for her maidservants. (16) She considers a field and buys it; From her profits she plants a vineyard. (17) She girds herself with strength, And strengthens her arms.

(18) She perceives that her merchandise is good, And her lamp does not go out by night. (19) She stretches out her hands to the distaff, And her hand holds the spindle. (20) She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

(21) She is not afraid of snow for her household, For all her household is clothed with scarlet. (22) She makes tapestry for herself; Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

(23) Her husband is known in the gates, When he sits among the elders of the land. (24) She makes linen garments and sells them, And supplies sashes for the merchants. (25) Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. (26) She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. (27) She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness.

(28) Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: (29) "Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all." (30) Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised. (31) Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates.

It is those special and unique talents, instincts, and nurturing temperaments given to Mothers, by the grace of God, that anoints Mothers to be so very special and to hold eternal places in the archive of our hearts. Whether good or bad, strong or weak, she will always be more than just a woman, she will forever be your MOM. Happy Mother's Day.

CLOSING PRAYER

LET US PRAY: Father, we praise You for Your great wisdom in creating Mothers. Those who carry us while You knit us together in her womb, those who nurse us, hold us, care for us, teach us, and Love us, just as you have first loved her. Continue, we pray O Lord, to hold Mothers in special regard, keeping their hearts pure and soft as the great nurturers of your Kingdom. Know that in our hearts and in the heart of our Creator, You MOM hold a very, very special place in our lives. In the name of Jesus, we lift you UP in constant prayer, Amen.

DOXOLOGY

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow;

Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, Ye heaven-ly host;

Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost

Amen
