WOMEN/ MOTHERS AND HOLY SCRIPTURE
OPENING PRAYER
Wondrous Creator of the Universe, Almighty GOD, with great humility we gather on this Holy day to Worship and grow through Your Word, as recorded in Holy Scripture. By Your grace open our ears and souls to the frequency of Your Message. Grant us understanding of Your ways and Will, thru Jesus the Christ, AMEN.
MESSAGE
Eleven years ago on this day, Mother's Day, while performing Hospice duties as a new Chaplain, a Beacon staff member asked me if I could fill in delivering a Godly message to residents gathered in the dining room, around the piano. The staff member said that the older couple that had been filling that role for quite some time, and would likely not return due to their advancing age. I said that I would give it a try.
As the words were coming out of my mouth, my mind was uttering a quiet but serious prayer to the Lord. Lord, God, said my mind in prayer, I have no idea of what to do, please guide me in Your loving Light. As a kid I certainly watched a bunch of messages being delivered while sitting in a church pew! Father, Lord Jesus, teach me, reach me, show me and grow me because....I have not done this before!
There were a few Baptist Hymnals available and that is what we used to sing opening and closing hymns a cappella. The four of us selected The Old Rugged Cross to open, and In the Garden to close. The Message was MOTHERS DAY and the Bible. There were three precious Beacon residents present. It was The Lord who gave me words that day. It was the Lord who picked the Hymns, and it was The Lord who opened the door and Lighted the pathway leading all these years to this very moment today!
The Holy Spirit gave me just what I needed, exactly at the moment it was needed, and not a second earlier. To this day I cannot recall all of the words He gave me to speak, But I do remember Robert Smith, who returned the following week with four more residents. Robert said to me, "If you are going to preach, you need to get some real music". He was right and We did!
That was then, and here we are gathered together with love in our hearts.
On this Holy Day, let us start at the beginning: Gen 2:7-8 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. (8) The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.
God began teaching the man how to care for the garden and he started off pretty good. After a while, God noticed some of the risky things Man was doing. Examples in Today's time might be; the strapping one ladder to another to make it taller, not turning off the electricity before messing with an outlet. I know that the women of today have witnessed these things with good frequency. Its also why women outlive men, FIVE-TO-ONE.
Someone once said "The Lord determined that MAN should not be alone, and would benefit by having ADULT SUPERVISION." As Paul Harvey once announced on the radio: The solution was simple...God made a woman.
Lets follow this logic a little further; Man was made from the earth, also known as DIRT. Woman was made from the man. Woman was not made from the dirt, she was made with flesh and blood which God removed in a rib supplied by Man and HE [God] then made a woman from the rib!
Over thousands of years, man and woman complemented and compensated each other a weakness in the flesh. A singular person could become one with the other and give strength to the other. Being husband and wife, God truly united both into into one flesh, with little daylight between them.
Many small ministries having been led by women who are naturally benevolent and nurturing in nature: God provided these gifts long before woman was formed. She and her husband would complement each other through these precious talents and interests as part of their very being. Where one might be weak, the other became strong.
Pro 31:20 She extends her hand to the poor, Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. So do men, however, the males are more direct and course in their benevolence, whereas the woman is more often tender and patient in her actions. The man often uses three words to circumscribe their intercessions and contributions; Safety not always initially being a consideration! Just "GIT-R-DONE!"
The question of this day to you is this; Who were some of the most notable women and mothers in Biblical history? I'm glad you asked. I just happen to have a list. Don't you just LOVE lists?

If you have never invited Jesus to be your Lord and savior, or, if you have in the past yet remain unsure of salvation and forgiveness of sin, Please pray with me now: Lord Jesus I need to fill a hole in my life that follows me where ever I go. I am a long-time Sinner and I CONFESS and REPENT of all my sins. I believe that You JESUS are the Lord, that you were hung on a cross and died. I believe that you were raised back to life by God, Your Father, ascended into heaven and presently sit at the right hand of The Almighty. Please come into me, clean me, take me and make me Yours and let me serve from this day forward and forever, Thank-You Jesus, AMEN
If you sincerely prayed with me, your salvation has been assured. {Rom 10:9 KJV} -That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
