MESSAGE
Pastor Charles Hadden Spurgeon, (1834-1892;{58 yrs}), was affectionately known in England and around the world as the "Prince of Preachers". It is in his writings that he superbly expresses God driven mysteries; UN-winding them to the benefit of inquiring minds. Spurgeon used the Holy Gift of a "child-like mind" to extend the horizons of the Creator's passion for MERCY by extending His Grace even to the undeserving. Jesus encourgaes us to approach the Gospel Message with a "child like mind" as we read in {Mar 10:15 NKJV}--[Jesus said]; Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it."
As we continue we will soon discover WHO these undeserving creatures are a bit later in this message.
It is on this topic the PREACHER Spurgeon opines; "The truster above all men feels himself to be a sinner; yet, mercy is prepared for him. LORD, give me this mercy, even as I trust in you!" "Observe my soul, what a bodyguard you have! Before and behind, and on all sides, ride these mounted guards of grace. We dwell in the center of the system of mercy, for we dwell in Christ Jesus."
{Faith's Checkbook; Charles H. Spurgeon; ISBN 978-1-77036-239-0}
Our anchor verse reveals that even the undeserving sinner,-- and here --I want to remind everyone that we ALL ARE SINNERS! (Psa 32:10 KJV) Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: but he that trusteth in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
In His last hour of earthly life on that old cross, our Savior in the midst of gut-wrenching pain, He musters the divine power to extend mercy to a most undeserving man who hung also on a tree next to Him. The dying sinner came to the defense of Jesus against his hate-filled partner who also hung on his own beam. His words echo in our hearts in (Luk 23:42-43 KJV) And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. (43) And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Who else but JESUS would even consider such a remarkable and merciful blessing? WHO?
The word MERCY appears 261 times in our Bible. There is MERCY through GRACE. Grace, an unearned GIFT directly from HE who made us! There is MERCY earned and deserved, and certainly, we have a whole pile of MERCY that is UNDESERVED! How can We know, for certain, which belongs to us, individually? We go to HIS WORD recorded in Holy Scripture.
Most Bibles have a concordance in the back of the book. When you have the chance, turn to your concordance and search for the word MERCY. You should find a pretty good list of verses that apply to MERCY. Lets take a look at what I found:
(Gen 39:21 KJV) But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. When Joseph was little, his brothers were jealous of him, and sold Joseph into slavery. Now, Years later, a woman attempted to beguile him but he refused. She said He attacked her and he ended up in prison. True Mercy deserved would soon arrive for Joseph.
(Exo 20:6/25:17 KJV) And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments./ And thou shalt make a mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half shall be the length thereof, and a cubit and a half the breadth thereof. This is the ARK of the COVENANT.
(1Ch 16:34 KJV) O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
(Psa 9:13 KJV) Have mercy upon me, O LORD; consider my trouble which I suffer of them that hate me, thou that liftest me up from the gates of death:
(Psa 145:8 KJV) The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
(Isa 30:18 KJV) And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
(Isa 54:8 KJV) In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
(Jas 3:17 KJV) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be in treated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
SUMMARY
We could stay here and follow the MERCY Train till well past 4 p.m. That is the sheer volume of events of God's infinite MERCY rendered to HIS creation.
(Ezr 9:13-14 NKJV) And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great guilt, since You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve, and have given us such deliverance as this, (14) should we again break Your commandments, and join .... with the people committing these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had consumed us, so that there would be no remnant or survivor? { Ezr 9:13-14 NKJV}
WHO in the world is Ezra referring to in this missive? {You didn't know that there would be a test here at the end, huh?} Who are these people who have a long record of failing to obey by coloring OUTSIDE the lines?
The SINNERS are us! You and me. We all are infected with this tendency to SIN. There are no exceptions. The only cure, the only door to Heaven, the only answer and resolution is through JESUS our Savior! Let us now bow our heads in a prayer of THANKSGIVING for the blood and breath that HE gave on that CROSS up on CALVARY!
CLOSING PRAYER
O' My LORD, Father and Son, Holy Spirit, it remains difficult to find words in our language that carry the enormous power to describe our humble accolades and praises for that which You have given through Grace, through Love, and by showing undeserved MERCY to us, the products of Your creation. We are Yours, Fully, Faithfully, and Forever. Praise You Lord and Praise you Jesus, AMEN and AMEN

THE CALL
If you have never invited Jesus to be your Lord and savior, or, if you have in the past yet remain unsure of salvation and forgiveness of sin, Please pray with me now: Lord Jesus I need to fill a hole in my life that follows me where ever I go. I am a long-time Sinner and I CONFESS and REPENT of all my sins. I believe that You JESUS are the Lord, that you were hung on a cross and died. I believe that you were raised back to life by God, Your Father, ascended into heaven and presently sit at the right hand of The Almighty. Please come into me, clean me, take me and make me Yours and let me serve from this day forward and forever, Thank-You Jesus, AMEN
If you sincerely prayed with me, your salvation has been assured. {Rom 10:9 KJV} -That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
